Adding photos and short tour videos

Habitia lets you upload photos and short videos for each property and each unit. You decide which ones tenants see on the public listings page by starring them.

1. Open the property or unit

Photos and videos can live on either level:

  • Property-level photos and videos describe the building or grounds (street view, lobby, garden).
  • Unit-level photos and videos describe the actual rental (kitchen, bedrooms, the tour walkthrough).

Open Properties → [your property] for property-level media, or Units → [your unit] for unit-level.

2. Switch to the Photos or Videos tab

You’ll see Photos and Videos tabs across the top of the detail page. Each tab has the same flow.

3. Upload a photo

  1. Click Upload photo.
  2. Pick the image file. JPEG and PNG work best.
  3. Add a short title (optional — defaults to the filename).
  4. Click Upload.

Tip: Upload 5–8 good photos per unit before listing. Tenants scroll quickly on phones — first impressions matter.

4. Star photos for the public listing

Hover any photo to see a star icon in the top-left corner. Click it to feature that photo on the public listing. Click again to remove it.

  • A gold star = visible on the public listing.
  • No star = uploaded but private (only you and your team see it).

The count of starred photos shows at the top of the tab next to the star icon.

5. Reorder photos for the listing

The order your photos appear in is the order tenants see on the public listing — and the first photo is the cover image (the large one shown at the top of the listing). Lead with your best shot.

To change the order, hover over a photo and use the two arrow buttons that appear along the bottom edge:

  • ◀ Move earlier shifts the photo one spot toward the front.
  • ▶ Move later shifts it one spot toward the back.

The “earlier” arrow is greyed out on the first photo, and “later” on the last one. Each move saves instantly and updates the public listing right away — there’s no separate save step.

Tip: put the kitchen or living room first, not the bathroom. The cover image is what tenants judge first in search results.

6. Upload a tour video

  1. Open the Videos tab and click Upload video.
  2. Pick the video file.
  3. (Optional) Adjust the Title — defaults to the filename.
  4. The Show on the public listing checkbox is on by default — leave it on if you want the video featured.
  5. Click Upload.

Video limits:

  • Up to 5 minutes long.
  • Up to 500 MB in size.
  • MP4 or WebM recommended (other formats may not play on all devices).

Note: Habitia checks the duration before uploading. If your video is longer than 5 minutes you’ll see an error and the upload won’t start. Trim it in your phone’s gallery or in iMovie/CapCut and try again.

7. Manage existing media

On either tab, hover over any photo or video:

  • Click a photo to view it full-screen.
  • Click a video to play it in a lightbox.
  • Star icon (top-left) toggles whether it shows on the public listing.
  • ◀ / ▶ arrows (bottom, photos only) move it earlier or later in the listing order — see Reorder photos.
  • X icon (top-right) deletes the photo or video. This can’t be undone.
